Adding context and signal as we decipher what’s happening in the US healthcare landscape
What’s going on in the US?
The US healthcare landscape is changing faster than ever, particularly for international companies actively scaling into the US or considering the option in a few years.
Characterizing the opportunities, risks, and caveats has become part of our daily conversations. There’s such a torrent of changes from regulatory, reimbursement, economics, policy, and adoption practices through the big things that hit international considerations: geopolitics, tariffs, supply chain changes, investment requirements, and all the shifts within security and compliance thinking.
Twice a month we meet to distill what’s happening and what matters. Conversations are structured to aim to:
Provide signal over noise—what’s likely to make an impact and what’s just loud
Add context from the trenches of what we’re seeing locally
Offer the disclosable research we can around second-order consequences
Keep you up-to-date with the critical changes so you can spend the rest of your time focusing on actual growth (and closing the news app)
Most importantly: open dialogue around how to address changes and challenges
How these meetings work
-
International professionals in healthcare with an interest in the US market
US healthcare leaders who need to stay up-to-date and want to join in meaningful dialogue
We focus mostly on sense-making of the US in a European context, but the meetings are open to all geographies.
-
Applying to join is simple. Just share your interest and background context for the conversation.
-
We start with a briefing: what’s happened, what matters, what’s worth watching, what’s probably noise. We discuss context and potential second-order impacts, as well as what might be worth thinking about now. The topics range from new potential tariffs to new funding opportunities.
From there, the floor is open to conversation with all Current Affairs members to share their observations and thoughts.
-
We have a few simple principles to keep these meetings productive:
We’re interested in objective, actionable analysis and process, not politics. We’ll talk policy, not philosophy.
We use Chatham House rules. You can repeat what you hear here, but not cite who said it.
You’re encouraged to speak when the floor opens. If you have information that challenges the discussion, you’re welcome to share it too. Be respectful and keep it to the point.
Most of all, remember that these meetings aren’t about us. They’re about what we do about change—how we can make stronger decisions quickly, so we can get back to work. The patient is waiting.
-
Once you’ve joined, you’ll receive a recurring calendar invite to jump in the meetings. Meetings are usually held every other week on Mondays at 8:00 Eastern US / 14:00 CET / 15:00 EET. Sometimes special sessions are called for extraordinary events that merit more urgent attention.
